Veritas Kids
Our Burden for ministering to children
At Veritas, we value children, as we believe they are a gift from God, given to us to protect, nurture, and love. We believe the greatest way we love our children is to take up the responsibility of declaring and demonstrating the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We also believe this responsibility of raising children to know and love God belongs first to parents; therefore, we will continually challenge parents to engage the Gospel in the home. The ministry to children we offer is meant to be an encouragement and a compliment to ministry taking place within the family.
Note: We understand that there are reasons Gospel-centered teaching is not going on at home. Some of you may be new to this and will need a lot of help; some of you are single Moms and Dads, feeling alone and frustrated at times; some of you may intentionally not love Jesus but would like your kids to learn about Him. Whoever you are and wherever you are, you and your children are welcomed at Veritas – and we are here to serve you.
Our Theology of children and ministry to children
We agree with “A Theology of Children’s Ministries and its Impl
ications” (Written by the Council of Elders, Bethlehem Baptist Church; Minneapolis, Minnesota; 1992, Revised 1999) – Click here to download.
Our Principles for ministering to children
In all our ministry to children, whether formal or informal, we aim…
- To be Faithful first (not Imitational or Innovative).
- To be Gospel-Centered (not Morality-Centered).
- To be Delightful (not Dutiful).
- To be Loving (not Cold or Indifferent).

Weekly Worship Service
Every Sunday, we offer ministry / childcare for children ages 0 to 7.
Integrated Worship:
At Veritas, it is important to us that families worship together. The church is a family that should gather together, not a group that should be fragmented. One day, our children will be adults serving in the church, and we believe their participation should begin early.
To accomplish this, we ask that parents keep their children with them for the first portion of our worship service, which usually lasts 20 minutes and is devoted primarily to worship through music. After the music portion of the service, during the meditation time before the sermon, parents can take their children to the appropriate class.
Segregated Worship:
While integrated worship is important we also believe there is great value in breaking children away for specialized teaching and community. Every Sunday, after the music portion of the service, our children are broken into 2 different groups where they receive gospel-centered teaching and time to build relationships with kids their age. Children under age 3 go to our nursery, while children ages 3 to 7 head to a classroom for prayer, age-appropriate teaching, and a game or craft.
Curriculum
The curriculum we currently use is called “He Has Spoken By His Son” published by Children Desiring God. We use this material because it is Biblically solid, gospel-centered, and walks our children chronologically through the Bible. Click here to read a sample.
Check In / Check Out Procedures
Parents should take their children to the appropriate class and fill out the “sign-in sheet.” Parents must leave their cell phone number so that a worker can call if their child is upset, needs a diaper change, or is causing a problem. Parents must also make sure they are checking their child in with a designated worker.
Note: Parents should remember to turn their cell phones to “vibrate” and make sure they are nearby (not in a coat pocket or bag where they might not be felt).
Other Information:
Child Dedication Service
Twice per year, Veritas Church incorporates into a worship service a brief time to formally and corporately dedicate new children to God. This is a time to welcome new children and to recognize and encourage their parents. Also, as a church we value the opportunity to publicly and formally commit ourselves to raising our children to know and love God.
